Whether you are hosting a birthday party or just getting together with family or friends, there are ways to host a really good event. Food and supplies take a big chunk out of the budget but there are ways you can save by being smart by renting party supplies.
Cutlery: Invest in sturdy plastic utensils. Many stores have these available at reasonable prices. After using them, put them in the dishwasher and reuse.
Serving supplies: You can buy one or borrow it from a friend. Plastic serving bowls are a good idea too. Invest in an ice bucket and serving spoon as you will use these often. Again, invest in a few good wine and champagne flutes. Beer and other drinks can be had right out of the can and these get recycled anyway.
Coolers: If you need more than one cooler, you can borrow that from a friend. Many people invest in a small fridge just for drinks and this will help to chill beer and soft drinks.
Invitations: Many websites offer all kinds of invitation templates. Pick one, make copies, and send these out by email and request RSVPs. You can send thank you notes the same way.
Tables and chairs: There are vendors who will drop these off and pick them up after the event. These are available at reasonable prices as well – no need to buy.
When you have a big event on your hands, don’t get overwhelmed by the list. Many of the items can be rented. You can save big even on the rent. Get references from friends and family or look for information online and find the vendors you need.
